The laid back approach to gardening brings true beauty to The Kitchen Garden when a few leek plants from last winter are left to run to seed.
Statuesque and sculptural they unfurled their millions of miniature florets at a graceful, patient speed. Why hurry? They had all the time in the world to flower, shedding their papery, protective cases like little flower fairies removing their hats. Giving them beans for company and bamboo canes with onion shaped terracotta finials; every stage of their growth was a wonder to behold.
This is easy gardening which makes a great show…why not try it?
Have an easy, happy weekend!
The leek are beautiful when they go to seed. I had no idea. How do you harvest the seed or do you let them sow themselves?
Have a great weekend!
